Single-estate English sparkling wine created in memory of Christopher Figgis is now available.

Figgy’s Fizz, a premium single-estate, single-vineyard sparkling white wine from the newly established Figgis Family Vineyard, on Mount Ephraim Estate near Faversham, Kent, has been created by Sean and Steph Figgis and their son Alistair in memory of their son and brother, Chris, affectionately known as “Figgy”, who sadly took his own life in October 2022 aged 18.

Rather than allowing Chris’s story to end there, his family have transformed their grief into something positive, creating a wine that celebrates life, community and connection while encouraging more open conversations around mental health and suicide.

In support of The Listening Place, a donation of 50p from every bottle sold will be made by Figgis Family Vineyard to The Listening Place (Registered Charity No. 1164739). The Listening Place provides free face-to-face support for people struggling with suicidal feelings.

Made exclusively from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes grown in Figgy’s Field on the Mount Ephraim Estate, Figgy’s Fizz is a sparkling white wine, made using the Charmat method, with a 12.5% ABV and an RRP of £25. There are 4,000 bottles of the 2025 vintage available from September through selected fine food retailers across Kent and the Figgis Family Vineyard website.

The launch also marks an incredible achievement in English viticulture. Sean Figgis successfully produced drinkable wine from vines that were just 18 months old, something rarely achieved in commercial winemaking.

Sean Figgis said: “We’re incredibly proud to be launching Figgy’s Fizz this September. We’ve worked hard to create a premium English sparkling wine that reflects both the quality of the fruit grown here in Kent and the care that’s gone into every stage of the process.

“Being able to produce wine from such young vines has been an exciting achievement, and we’re looking forward to people finally tasting it.

“Figgy’s Fizz is far more than a sparkling wine to us. It’s a way for us to remember Chris – he loved farming and being outside – and we wanted to create something positive from an incredibly difficult time. We want people to enjoy the wine and share it with friends and family. If it helps even one person feel able to speak up or seek support, then we’ve achieved something truly worthwhile.”

Daniel Hall from the Listening Place added: “We feel privileged that Sean and Steph have chosen to work with us. There is such a moving story behind Figgy’s Fizz and with this partnership we can help deliver a message of hope.”

As the brand develops, Sean and Steph also hope it will become a platform for raising awareness of suicide prevention and supporting charities working in this incredibly important area. The vineyard itself was established because of Chris, and every bottle carries his legacy.

Produced from a single vineyard and a single estate, Figgy’s Fizz reflects the quality and provenance increasingly associated with English wine, while offering consumers a deeply personal story behind every bottle. Figgy’s Fizz will be available from September 2026.
