A soil sensor which measures eight different variables continuously from any chosen point in your vineyard has been added to the Vinewatch range. The soil sensor is attached to a regular Vinewatch Ladybird sensor which reports its environmental data automatically every ten minutes. The sensor reports NPK, soil moisture, soil temperature, salinity, pH as well as electrical conductivity.
The sensors can be inserted at any depth allowing the monitoring of changes in your soil over time to better understand exactly what is available to your vines. Such detailed data helps you carefully calculate and prepare fertiliser plans both for concentrations, timing and even which blocks might not need fertiliser at all.
At £139, the sensor is affordable and so can be installed in multiple positions around the vineyard to highlight differences from block to block.
The Vinewatch system stores data from all of its sensors indefinitely, thus providing very rich data for historical analysis over years as well as during the season.
